SELMAR Institute of Education offers the Nationally Accredited Diploma of Children's Services (Early Childhood Education and Care).

The Diploma of Children's Services is a highly regarded qualification for Early Childhood professionals. This qualification provides students with the skills and knowledge required to work within the Children's Services industry as a Room Leader, Assistant Director or Qualified Relief Staff member. The Diploma is also a pre-requisite into the Advanced Diploma of Children's Services.

The Certificate III in Children's Services must be successfully completed before undertaking the Diploma of Children's Services

Further Study Pathway:

Students may obtain recognition for their studies to gain entry to Degree or Advanced Diploma courses at a University or with a private provider. Candidates having completed the Diploma may receive credits for part of these courses.

Eligibility for Government Funded Training:

The Victorian State Government supports learning and development for those wishing to advance in their career. In order to receive full government funded training the candidate must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must not already hold a qualification at Diploma level or higher

Working With Children Check:

It is a requirement when working or volunteering in Diploma of Children's Services to hold a current Working with Children Card. If commencing in Diploma of Children's Services, this card must be applied for immediately, as it can take several months for your application to be processed. You may not be able to commence your work placement if you do not have a current Working with Children Card. Your application needs to be lodged at Australia Post with the required identification.
